Sufism is the mysticism of Islam, and an esoteric doctrine emerged in the eighth century. Like any mysticism, it is primarily a search for God and its expression can take many different forms. On the other hand, its esoteric aspects, it presents practical secret initiation rites, also vary according to the masters who teach it. The first Sufis were influenced by the practices of Christian monks, to Zoroastrians and Hindus.
The Dargah of Nizamuddin is the sanctuary that houses the tomb of Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238-1325), great Sufi saint of India.
The area located around the Dargah named after the saint. This area is separated into two parts by the road to Mathura, the Dargah is located in the western part of Nizamuddin. The Dargah is a place of intense faith where a crowd of believers spreads in prayers and offerings to the favor of Allah through the intercession of the saint. The rhythmic recitation (dhikr) and mystical songs (qawwali) that take place leading to ecstasy, interpreted as direct contact with God.
